If the software is already installed on the PC, then the following steps

needs to be taken in this exact order.

1)    HotSync the handheld unit with your primary PC

Perform a HotSync operation to backup your latest data on your PC. Following the HotSync operation check to make sure all your data is backed up to the desktop database. Do this by checking the PalmScan desktop application's patient list for the latest patient records.

"Skipping this step will result in possible permanent loss of data."

2)    Save the database (patients records)

The database for the PalmScan is stored under the "PalmScan.mdb" in

C:\Program Files\Micro Medical Devices\PalmScan directory.

Copy and paste this file to a temporary location on your PC and make a note on where you save this file.

"Skipping this step will cause the database to be lost forever."

3)    Stop the HotSync Manager

Click on the HotSync icon in the status bar located on the bottom right corner of the screen and select on "Exit".

 4)    Remove the existing PalmScan program from the PC.

Go to "My Computer" select "Add or remove programs", scroll down until you find "PalmScan", select and remove the program.

5)    Install the new Software

Download the new software from our website, launch it and follow the installation steps.

6)    Copy the saved database back

Copy the original database "PalmScan.mdb" that was saved earlier in a temporary location to:

C:\Program Files\Micro Medical Devices\PalmScan directory.

7)    Start the HotSync Manager

From the "Start" menu select "programs" then "Palm Desktop" and then select the HotSync Manager. Wait for the HotSync Icon to appear in the status bar before moving to the next step.

8)    Synchronize the PC with the PalmScan handheld unit
