Installation guide for PalmScan Software on a Palm Handheld Platform (AP2000, A2000, P2000) * If the software is already installed on the unit, then the following steps needs to be taken in this exact order. * Follow this procedure only if you have installed the PalmScan Desktop software on a Window's PC system and you have been synchronizing your handheld data to it. * Follow this procedure at your own risk. Micro Medical Devices is not responsible for any data lost due to software upgrades. 1) Back up your data by syncing to the primary desktop Sync your PalmScan handheld unit to it's primary desktop PC and check to make sure all your records are transferred to the PalmScan application on your desktop. While performing this step, note the correct username for your handheld device. Your device's username is displayed in the upper-right corner of the HotSync page of your handheld. "Skipping this step will cause the data to be lost forever."
2) Delete PalmScan application from
handheld (this step is required only if you are updating from a version 1.2.3
or earlier of the PalmScan software)
Before you delete the PalmScan application from your handheld device, make sure that all your data is properly backed up to your Desktop computer. The easiest way to do this is to make sure the last patient's scans are transferred to the PC. Navigate to the Palm home page by clicking on the home button. Click one time at the upper-left corner of the screen to make the menu options visible. From the 'App' menu select 'Delete'. From the list of applications select 'PalmScan' and select 'Delete'. Answer 'Yes' to the question "Delete the application and all data?".
3) Install new PRC file
Click on the new download file from your primary PC to add it to the Palm "Quick Install" list. Make sure that you have selected the correct user name for your device. If the "User" showing in the drop-down list at the top-right corner of the Palm Quick Install screen is not the one that you wanted, select the proper "User" from the list and then add the PalmScan.prc file again to the Quick Install list. Sync your handheld unit with the PC and make sure the PRC file is removed from the Quick Install list. This ensures that the new software was loaded to your handheld. 4) Check the version number of Software
Check the software version number to make sure it is the one you expect. Do this by entering the PalmScan application on the handheld. In the software's "Main Page", click on 'Main' in the upper-left hand corner of the screen. This will show you the 'Options' Menu. Select 'About' to view the software version.
Exit PalmScan by pressing the 'Home' button twice. 5) HotSync one more time (this step is required only if you are updating from a version 1.2.3 or earlier of the PalmScan software) Perform a second HotSync operation to retrieve your data from the PC. 6) Enter PalmScan application and select your Group and Username from the drop down lists Next, select 'Menu' button followed by "Patient info" button and check to see if your patients are all visible. 7) Set default preferences for all active users on the system (this step is required only if you are updating from a version 1.2.15 or earlier of the PalmScan software)
For each user on the user list select the "A-Scan" button from Main page and next select "Pref" button from the A-Scan page. In the Preferences page, select "Defaults" button and then select "Save Prefs" button.
That is it. You have now successfully updated your system software.
