You can reset the handheld device by inserting a pin type object into
the "RESET" hole on the back of the Palm device. The handle of the
devices' stylus can be snapped off or unscrewed and used to reset the
device.
Please follow the following steps.
- Reset the handheld device.
- Make sure PalmScan units' internal battery is fully charged then reset the PalmScan device.
- Send for service
- Select the Unfiled category from upper-right corner of the handheld device.
- Sync handheld with PC, then follow step 1.
- Install Palm Desktop, then follow step 2, then follow step 1.
- Reset the handheld device.
- Make sure unit is fully charged then reset.
- Send for service
The following are some of the adjustments that can help in making data captures easier:
- Select off value for UAT.
- Increase system gain.
- Adjust system gates to the appropriate locations.
Try the power-on test. Enter PalmScan app and
switch power on and off multiple times. If the device locks, you have a
bad SDIO card and it needs repair.
Please be advised that like other computing device every once in a while the device needs to be rebooted.
Make sure that the immersion checkbox is selected.
Make sure you have the correct (black-color) transducer plugged in.
Having the AScan probe connected to the system in a pachymeter mode
results in data not being captured.
Make sure you have the correct transducer plugged in. Having the Pachymeter transducer connected can cause this error.
Make sure you have the correct (white-color) transducer plugged in.
Make sure you have the correct eye type selected.
Select patient then select
NewRec (New Record)
Go to the preferences page, select
date & time and enter the correct date and time.

Press the
Home button to get back to the main page and then select the
PalmScan Icon. The
Home button is in the lower-right corner of the device next to the power button. It has a picture of a house on it.
OR
Select the 'Globe' button to go directly to the PalmScan Application.
Copy the .mdb file from the PalmScan installation directory to a backup device. The most common location of this file:
../Program Files/Micro Medical Devices/PalmScan/PalmScan.mdb
Re-install the software then paste it back into the same directory.
This problem is encountered if the hotsync.exe is
running during the installation and uninstallation of the PalmScan PC
application.
- You will first need to exit HotSync by clicking on the HotSync icon and selecting Exit.
- Uninstall the PalmScan application.
- Reinstall PalmScan desktop application.
- At this point, you can launch the HotSync application or reset your computer.
There are 3 different ways that you can print from PalmScan.
- Infrared print: Allows you to print directly to a supported IR-ready printer
- Wireless print:
Allows you to print to any office network printer or any printer that
is attached to a networked PC through a WiFi (802.11b) wireless
connection.
- Desktop print: print effortlessly to existing office printers once you have transferred your data to a desktop computer.
Go to
install. Click on
PrintBoy setup and follow instructions.
Go into CD folder under \unsupported.
Extract PrintBoySetupXP.zip and then launch Setup. Follow installation prompts. You have to run the PrintBoy Proxyserver if you want to print to a non-network printer.
Call up the Palm Pilot
Quick Install Application on your PC. Set the proper serial number used under "
users". Add files for the specific setup required "A, P or A/P" with palm unit on cradle. Perform a hot sync operation.
Insert palm unit in cradle. Plug in USB to computer. Make sure "HotSync
Manager" program is running by clicking on it. Do a HotSync operation.
When screen comes up, click
new user. Type in number assigned to PalmScan unit going with that Palm Pilot. Click
OK.
Go to the installation CD under the unsupported directory and launch the MDAC_TYP.exe

description of the major steps and the order of installations.
- Install the Palm desktop software on a PC
- Connect the cradle to the PC's USB port
- Place the PDA on the Cradle and make sure you have a good connection
- Perform a HotSync
- Exit HotSync by right clicking on the HotSync manager icon and selecting exit option
- Run the PalmScan.Setup.msi file by placing the PalmScan installation disk in your drive.
- Follow the instructions to complete the installation.
- Next Restart the PC
- Perform HotSync
- You
should be able to confirm correct installation by adding group, user,
and patient info on your PC and seeing the data transfer to the
handheld following a sync.
